Director of Culture and Belonging (Indianapolis)

United Way of Central Indiana is hiring a Director of Culture and Belonging.

Responsibilities:

• Promotes a culture of belonging and inclusion by implementing & supporting practices that help all team members feel connected, respected, and valued — such as inclusive meeting norms, storytelling that reflects the diversity of our community and practices that respect and value each individual’s experiences and perspectives.  

• Collaborate with People and Culture team members responsible for onboarding to enhance and support a range of learning styles and communication preferences — including visual, auditory, and hands-on approaches to ensure all team members can engage and succeed.

• Provide resources, coaching, and guidance to managers to equip them to build cultures of belonging while learning and practicing inclusive leadership. 

Education/Experience:

• 5+ years of experience leading similar initiatives in complex organizations (nonprofit experience strongly preferred) 

• Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility across varied teams and communities.

• Experience designing and implementing strategies that create measurable improvements in workplace culture and/or service outcomes.

• Understanding of systemic barriers and their intersections with organizational performance and community access.
